Alaska Peninsula Communities File Suit to Void Conflicted Fisheries Regulations

A lawsuit was filed last Friday, April 3, by four government and industry groups against the Alaska Board of Fisheries for failing to disclose conflicts of interest in its decision-making on several proposals in the Area M salmon fishery.
Plaintiffs in the case, Aleutians East Borough, the Native Village of Unga, Area M Seiners Association, and Concerned Area M Fishermen, have asked the court to void five proposals voted on in the February 2026 Board of Fish meeting.
