Four individuals have been convicted and fined a combined $18,000 following a Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) enforcement investigation into illegal shellfish harvesting near Deep Bay, BC.

The case concluded July 7, 2026, in Courtenay provincial court, where Xiaohua (Jessica) Liu was convicted of making a false or misleading statement and unlawful possession of oysters. Liu was fined $4,500.
